Stock queried - Access queries

Online learners submit the answers as a Word email attachment. Onsite learners do it on foolscap paper as homework.


Copy the database called Stock.mdb into your own folder. Answer the following questions based on that database. To answer the Queries question look at the Help menu in Access for Examples of expressions that use text values as criteria or use Examples of expressions that use text values as criteria from the tip sheets.

Tables

  1. Name the 2 tables in the database.
  2. Name the fields in the Technet table.
  3. How many records are in the Technet table.
  1. Look at the Technet table in design view.  Add to and complete the following describing the Technet table.

Queries

  1. Name the 4 queries in the database.
  2. In Design View of the Printers query, what were the criteria used? 
  3. In Design View of the MS Software query, what were the criteria used?
  4. In Design View of the Technet Products query, what were the criteria used? 
  5. In Design View of the Expensive Software query, what were the criteria used? 
  6. Do the query titles describe what was looked for?  Discuss.
  1. Complete the following table. The first is done for you.

  1. Using a similar table to that above with your own criteria, create 10 queries about the Technet table. Be sure to give each query a suitable title. Look at the Help menu in Access for Examples of expressions that use text values as criteria or use Examples of expressions that use text values as criteria from the tip sheets.
