Pivot table of software reported inWord
- Copy the file Software.xls to your own drive.
- Insert a row at the top of the sheet with the headings Type, Object, Price, Supplier,
Web address and SA Computer Magazine Edition. Make the headings bold.
- In the last few tasks (Stock costs, Stock counts)
you have used the SumIf and CountIf functions and formulaes to find the costs and numbers
of things. It could be done so quickly and simply using a pivot table.
- Create a pivot table showing the Type and total Prices. Look at the tip sheet for
Excel PivotTable.
- Create some new pivot tables. Explore - be creative.
- Open Word, and a new file.
- Do a Copy / Paste from Excel to Word of one simple pivot table.
- Insert a caption below the table with the label Table whatever it is (Insert
/ Caption).
- Leave an open line, then add 1 or 2 lines of text to explain the table.
- In the sentences about the table add a Cross-reference to refer to the table by number
(Insert / Cross-reference). Make sure the cross-reference is to Only label and
number.
- Do a Copy / Paste from Excel to Word of another simple pivot table.
- Insert a caption below the table with the label Table whatever it is (Insert
/ Caption).
- Leave an open line, then add 1 or 2 lines of text to explain the table.
- In the sentences about the table add a Cross-reference to refer to the table by number
(Insert / Cross-reference). Make sure the cross-reference is to Only label and
number.
- Do a Copy / Paste from Excel to Word of a pivot table with more than one criteria on the
left, i.e. more than one criteria in the rows section.
- Insert a caption below the table with the label Table whatever it is (Insert
/ Caption).
- Leave an open line, then add 1 or 2 lines of text to explain the table.
- In the sentences about the table add a Cross-reference to refer to the table by number
(Insert / Cross-reference). Make sure the cross-reference is to Only label and
number.
- In File / Properties add your name as the author.
- Add a footer to the Word document with your name, date and page number.
- Format the table, caption and text according to the Word processing
evaluation rubric.
- Add an automatically created Table of Tables at the beginning of the document.
- Print and submit. You may physically hand it in or fax it to school.
