Frequency distribution graph of costs of software

  1. Copy the file Software.xls (from the Pupils drive / CSSG folder) to your own drive.
  2. Create some frequency distribution graphs of the costs of operating system software listed in the file Software.xls
  3. Look at the example of cost of web application software in frequency distribution graph tip sheet.  
  4. First round the costs to multiples of 100 using the MROUND function.
  5. To make the graphs different you could change the colours, text, alignment and scaling of the axis.
  6. When you have created three different graphs all about the costs of operating system software open Word, and a new file.
    1. Do a Copy / Paste from Excel to Word of one graph. 
      1. Insert a caption below the graph with the label graph whatever it is (Insert / Caption).
      2. Leave an open line, then add 1 or 2 lines of text to explain the graph. 
      3. In the sentences about the graph add a Cross-reference to refer to the graph by number (Insert / Cross-reference).  Make sure the cross-reference is to Only label and number. 
    2. Do a Copy / Paste from Excel to Word of another graph. 
      1. Insert a caption below the graph with the label graph whatever it is (Insert / Caption). 
      2. Leave an open line, then add 1 or 2 lines of text to explain the graph. 
      3. In the sentences about the graph add a Cross-reference to refer to the graph by number (Insert / Cross-reference).  Make sure the cross-reference is to Only label and number. 
    3. Do a Copy / Paste from Excel to Word of another graph.
      1. Insert a caption below the graph with the label graph whatever it is (Insert / Caption).
      2. Leave an open line, then add 1 or 2 lines of text to explain the graph. 
      3. In the sentences about the graph add a Cross-reference to refer to the graph by number (Insert / Cross-reference).  Make sure the cross-reference is to Only label and number. 
  7. In File / Properties add your name as the author.
  8. Add a footer to the Word document with your name, date and page number.
  9. Format the table, caption and text according to the Word processing evaluation rubric.
  10. Add an automatically created Table of Figures at the beginning of the document. 
  11. Print and submit.  You may physically hand it in or fax it to school.
