Querying software with
conditional formatting
Open the spreadsheet softwareconditionalformatting.xls
and complete the following worksheet. Write your answers on foolscap or type in Word. Hand
in the completed answers, not the spreadsheet.
Use conditional formatting to solve the following:
- If any Type of software appears later in the alphabet than GAME, then it should be given
a line through, as you do not have that type of software in stock! How many cells do not
have a line through?
- Turn any Price red that is less than R2000 but greater than R1000. How many cells
have you turned red?
- If the South Africa Computer Magazine edition is before or including August 2000, then
you should put it in bold green and put an outline around the cell so that you can remove
it in the near future. How many of these entries should be removed?
- Create a new column in column G called Tax that calculates the VAT (14%) that should be
added to the Price. Any tax amount that is more than or equal to R200 should be
highlighted with a pink background. How many pink blocks do you have?
- Create a Total column that adds the Price to the VAT. Find all
the totals less then R1500 and highlight them blue. How many cells that are neither pink
in the Tax column or blue in the Total column?
