Pricing of different types of software

  1. Open Excel. Open the file Software.xls. Save it on your drive with the name SoftwareYourInitals
  2. Open Access.   Create a New Blank database and save it on your drive.  Call the database SoftwareYourInitials, e.g. Pam Miller's database would be SoftwarePM. 
  3. Import the file SoftwareYourIntials.xls (File / Get External Data / Import / (Change File of type to Microsoft Excel) and follow the Wizard.  Your imported database should have 29 records. 
  4. Make sure the table in the database SoftwareYourInitial is called SoftwareYourInitials.
  5. Create calculation queries on the file to find the:
    1. total cost (sum) of the accounting packages.
    2. total cost (sum) of the games.
    3. total cost (sum) of the operating systems.
    4. total cost (sum) of the reference packages.
    5. average cost of the accounting packages.
    6. average cost of the games.
    7. average cost of the educational software.
    8. average cost of the graphics packages.
    9. maximum cost of the accounting packages.
    10. maximum cost of the games.
    11. maximum cost of the web design packages.
    12. minimum cost of the games.
  6. Save the queries with clear names.
  7. Write the answers on foolscap paper and hand in.
