PowerPoint - Save a file as Read-only
A Read-only document can be opened and viewed but you cannot save any changes made to it. If you change a read-only document, you can save your changes only if you give the document a new name.
To make a PowerPoint file Read-Only
When you are sure the file is complete and you want to make sure that no alterations are made to the file, then it is time to make the file Read-Only. This is sometimes quite important as you, the author, may, by mistake, save over and destroy an important file.
When you are ready, find the file in the C drive.

Right-click on the file. In the dialogue box which opens, click on Properties.

Select the General tab. To make the file Read-Only, click in the Read-Only box. Now the file cannot be overwritten. The only way to make alterations to the file is to save it with another name (Save As) when working in the program PowerPoint.

To remove the Read-Only attribute
In the C drive, select the file. Right-click the file. In the Properties box, General tab, deselect the Read-Only attribute. The file can be written over and alterations made, saving it with the original name.
