It has been a wish of the hospital school teachers for a long time to have the artwork of the learners framed and hung on the walls of the hospital for all to admire. Unfortunately there are no funds available to pay for the framing. Joan van der Spuy from The Frame Joint in Mowbray heard about our wish, and through her efforts found sponsors to have many of the children's artwork framed, thus making our wish a reality. Joan and Stuart of The Frame Joint did sterling work of framing the art in record time. Mr Christopher Green from the Workshops at the hospital helped to hang many of the children's paintings and drawings. The idea of seeing original art done by the learners of the hospital school while they were patients in hospital, has been welcomed generally. It is hoped that this will be an on-going project and more people will sponsor the framing of the children's artwork. In September 2002 our children's art gallery was officially opened.
