Internet URLs - Access form

  1. Using the program Access create a database called YourSurnameSAweb to store details about South African web sites.
  2. In the database YourSurnameSAweb create a table called 'Your Name's favourite web sites', for example 'Bill Gates' favourite web sites'.
  3. In Design View create the database with the description below. Access will probably assign ID as your primary key with the Data type as Autonumber - if not, do not worry.
Field Name Data Type Field Properties Description
Name Text Field size 30 Name of company/site
URL Text Field size 50 URL of company/site
Picture OLE Object   Company graphic image/logo
  1. Add 20 records to the database. Each record must comprise the Name and URL of the company.  Five records must include a gif or jpg image of the logo.
  2. All records must be concerned with South Africa. Be sure to have the URL of the SABC, your favourite radio station, magazine, shop, South African singer and sports team.
  3. Sort the data alphabetically according to the name of the company/site field name.
  4. Print the sorted table on ONE page. (The name of the table is your name so you do not have to add your name again.)

  1. Use the Wizard to create a form called 'Your Name's favourite web sites form' based on your table.
  2. Format the form in an exciting way.
  3. Sort the data alphabetically according to the name of the company/site field name.
  4. Print ONE record of the form with its logo. Be sure to print ONE record, or you may print all 20 records.  Save it your portfolio.
  5. Online learners phone two days after submitting the work to discuss the task - no phone call and discussion, no mark.
