    Question 5 - General - 6 marks

  1. Name two well known software applications on your computer at home.  List the software and indicate how they make your life easier at home  For example, use Word to write thank you letters for birthday presents.  (Do not indicate they can be used for homework.  How can you use them at home!)  [2]
  2. As you are doing Computer Studies you have been asked to assist at a family celebratory dinner. You are responsible for the place mats. The place mat must include an interesting frame and a picture of a guest. Pictures of family members can be taken from old photographs. You have the required computer equipment in the home in which the dinner will be held.
    1. What computer equipment can you use to obtain the pictures? [1]
    2. The place mats must be printed in colour. What specific type of printer could you use? Give a reason for your answer. [1]
    3. In case an unexpected guest comes, you must be able to make an instant photograph of him/her which can be turned into a place mat. Explain in two steps how you would you do this? [2]
