Outdoor Club

Copy the folder called 0410Out from the CSSG / Exam folder to your own login. Unzip the folder.  (The Access file available from the web has had the images removed to make it smaller.  It is on the CD in the 0410out folder in the examold folder.)  Rename the folder YourSurnameFirstnameOutdoor. All the files necessary for the exam will be in this folder. Save all your work in this folder. Only do what is required and nothing more. Save your work on a regular basis.  

An Outdoor Club has been established at Pinelands High School. The whole paper will focus on different aspects of the club. Most of the information is factually correct. 

Word processing and Drawing - 39 marks

Word processing

Open the Word file 0410Outdoor and save it in your folder as YourSurnameFirstnameWord. Complete the following tasks. Refer to the Appendix to see what is required and how the document should look. 

  1. Set the margins as 2 cm top, bottom, left and right. [1] 
  2. As a footer insert the document information fields of the author, file name and number of words with 'words' as indicated. [3] 
  3. As a footer insert a page number starting from the second page. [2] 
  4. Insert a header with the words 'Hiking and Mountain walking in the Cape Peninsula' starting from the second page. It needs to be bold, have shading and a border. [3] 
  5. Make all the text in the whole document Comic Sans. [3] 
  6. Behind the first, second and third paragraphs of the document add the jpg picture maptabledams as a watermark. Adjust the size of the picture so that it fits neatly behind the three paragraphs and does not go to the fourth paragraph. Do not colour it a 'watermark' as it becomes so light it cannot be seen. This picture should only be on the first page. [2]
  7. Insert the jpg picture caveinside in the text with the text wrapped around it on three sides at the beginning of the document. [2]
  8. Insert the jpg picture lionshead in line with the text centred at the end of the section Pinelands High School. [1] 
  9. Replace the boring bullets in the References section with a wingding symbol as illustrated. [1]
  10. Ramblers table
    1. Centre, bold and shade the column headings. [1] 
    2. Make the heading borders big and wide and visible! [1] 
    3. As the table goes over two pages repeat the column headings. [1] 
    4. In a row at the base of the table insert a formula to count the number of events. [1] 
  11. Meridian table
    1. Align the words in the first column vertically. [1] 
    2. Delete the silly empty row with nothing in it. [1] 
  12. Cobra Camp
    1. Shade the paragraph as shown in the Appendix. [1] 
    2. Border the paragraph as shown in the Appendix. [1] 
  13. Tartarus Cave
    1. Indent the second paragraph left and right by 2 cm as shown in the Appendix. [1] 
    2. Give the paragraph columns and a line as shown in the Appendix. [1] 

Paint 

Using Paint create a simple picture to illustrate the article on the Tartarus Cave. The picture should not take you longer than 5 minutes to create - time yourself. Save your picture as YourSurnameFirstnamePicture. 

  1. The size should be small - Attributes - 400 by 250. [1] 
  2. Use at least three colours / shades. [1] 
  3. Use parts of some of the pictures in the Outdoor folder to add meaning to your painted picture. [2] 
  4. Insert the picture next to some text or between paragraphs in the section about the Tartarus Cave. It must complement the meaning of the text. [3] 

Word processing

  1. Insert an automatically created index in the correct place (not illustrated as you should know where an index is found) of 10 words. [2] 
  2. The numbers should be right aligned with no tab leaders. [2] 
  3. Save the Word document and close Word.

Excel - 8 marks

Open the Excel file Personal details. Save the file as YourSurnameFirstnameExcel. 

  1. Insert a new column after First_name and Surname. In this column, using a function, add the first name to the surname with a space in between, for all members. [2]
  2. Hide the First_name and Surname columns. [1]
  3. Delete the columns Home_phone, Emergency_name and Emergency_phone. [1] 
  4. After the last record, in the first column add the words 'Average age'. Underneath the Age column use a function to calculate the average age. Make it correct to 2 decimal places. [2] 
  5. Then under the words 'Average age' add the words 'Maximum age'. Underneath the Age column use a function to calculate the maximum age. [1] 
  6. Then under the words 'Maximum age' add the words 'Number of members'. Underneath the Age column use a function to calculate the number of members. [1]
  7. Save and close.

Access - 7 marks

  1. Rename the database 04outdoor YourSurnameFirstnameAccess. [1]
  2. Open the database and perform the following.
  3. Delete the record of Joe Blogs from the 'Personal details' table. [1]
  4. Perform the following queries based on the 'Personal details' table. 
    1. List the First and Surnames of the members who live in Thornton. Save the query as a-Thornton. [1] 
    2. Find the female members who live in Pinelands. Save the query as b-Pinelands Females. [1] 
    3. Show the names of the members whose Grading is 3 or higher. Save the query as c- Grading. [1] 
    4. List all members who were born on or after 9 June 1987. Save the query as d-Born. [2]
