Fully answer each question.

  1. When I use the World Wide Web it is so slow.  Is there a time when I should not use it? (1) When should I use the Internet and get fast download speeds? (1)
  2. I took some wonderful holiday photographs and want to send copies of them to the people in New Zealand with whom I spent my holiday.  I could send the photographs to them by normal postage but it is too slow and expensive.  What is a cheap and quick way to send photographs to people far away? (2)
  3. I pressed Print by mistake and wasted a great deal of paper printing rubbish.  What can I do, if and when I press Print by mistake, and want to stop 'mistake' printing. (2)

    2. These panelbeaters have email. What could their email address be if they had an account with Mweb? (2)
    3. The panelbeaters have a web site. What could their URL be? Give it in full. (2)

  3. Between 7:00 PM (PST) on Monday, April 28, 2003 and 7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 Patrick Crispen of The Internet Tourbus at www.tourbus.com received a total of 730 emails. Of those, 22 were messages (messages from friends, readers, lists to which he subscribes), 2 messages with attachments contained viruses (detected and killed by Norton AntiVirus), and the remaining 706 messages (96.7%) were spams.

  4. Out of the blue I (P Miller) received a letter from a welder called Ralph Roberto at XXX@bellatlantic.net asking for help doing some work in Excel. I had never heard of him before and was most surprised when I received the letter. As a good South African in the spirit of the Internet I helped him to the best of my ability.  After giving him advice on an Excel function I received the letter, copied below, with his grammar and his spelling.
    1. How did he find me and why did he ask me for help in Excel.  Base your answer on your knowledge of the Internet and not on P.Miller's character.  (2)
    2. What could he use Excel for?  Motivate with clear examples. (1)
    3. In the extract what do we call the funny marks after the word 'Pam'. (1) What do they mean? (1)
    4. He says he loves the Internet.  What is so special about the Internet?   Motivate with clear examples.  (3)

Thank You Pam :) :) :) I haven't tried it yet (I am right now after this E-mail) I live in New York, I don't know what grade you teach, But please tell the kids to study, I wish I payed more attention in school, there are soooo many things I wish I could do (and now I have to learn them now)  

I love the internet it is the BEST. ( I say it's like going to the library with your pajamas on! )
