Email addresses, sorted and queried - Access tables and queries - 26 marks

Copy the Access database file emaildb.mdb (found in the Shared drive / CSSG folder) into your own folder.  Rename the file YourSurnameEmaildb.mdb  Open the program Access.  Open the database file YourSurnameEmaildb.mdb  Perform the following tasks.  Submit the answers on paper or as an email.  Online learners phone your teacher to discuss the work - no phone call and discussion, no mark.

Table

Open the table Email addresses.  Answer the following questions based on the table. 

1. How many records are in the table?
2. How many fields are in the table?
3. What is the Name of the person if the table is arranged according to Name in ascending alphabetical order?
4. What is the Name of the person if the table is arranged according to Name in descending alphabetical order?
5. What is the Name of the person if the table is arranged according to First Name in ascending alphabetical order?
6. What is the Name of the person if the table is arranged according to First Name in descending alphabetical order?
7. What is the Name of the person if the table is arranged according to Address in ascending alphabetical order?
8. What is the Name of the person if the table is arranged according to Address in descending alphabetical order?

Queries

Click on Queries.   Find the answers to the following questions by creating queries in Design View based on the Email addresses table.  Use the wildcard * in most of the queries. Use the tip sheet Access / Creating a simple query for help.

1. How many people have a first name beginning with C?
2. How many people have a first name beginning with D?
3. How many people have an email address ending with za?
4. How many people have an email address ending with com?
5. How many people have an email address ending with edu?
6. How many people have an email address ending with nz?
7. How many people have an email address with gov in the middle of it?
8. How many people have an email address with school in the middle of it?
9. How many people have an email address with .ac. in the middle of it?
10. How many people have an email address with .co. in the middle of it?

General questions not based on the table

1. What does it mean if an email address ends with za?
2. What does it mean if an email address ends with com?
3. What does it mean if an email address ends with edu?
4. What does it mean if an email address ends with nz?
5. What does it mean if an email address has gov in the middle of it?
6. What does it mean if an email address has school in the middle of it?
7. What does it mean if an email address has .ac. in the middle of it?
