I went to Sudan to teach a module of a M.Ed. (Computer Integrated Education) program in the Easter holidays 2009 at a university in Khartoum. These pictures reflect part of my time there. The staff and students of the university were wonderful and hospitable. I was so lucky to be afforded the opportunity to share the knowledge I gained doing my M.Ed and PhD.
This country has no tourist offices anywhere in the world and getting a visa to visit is apparently very difficult. I was very lucky to get in. I did not see any other tourist, i.e. person with a camera. The only people of European descent I saw were two people from Coke Cola from East London South Africa whom I met walking on the Nile bridge, and a number of aid/journalists/UN people at the hotel. Thank goodess I had the Bradt travel guide on the Sudan by Paul Clammer.
