is built at the confluence of the White and Blue Niles.
I wanted to get a photo of the river but that was not allowed. I had to get a permit to take any photo at all. Because Sudan is in the middle of a civil war no photos may be taken of any bridges. |

I had to have a photo of the river so I took photos of my feet in the water of the Nile. The police who were everywhere could not have found a problem with that!

did take some pictures of the river and hoped that I would not be
caught.
All the fields along the river are flooded in winter. Khartoum is a huge city and is made up of three parts - Khartoum itself, Khartoum North and Omdurman. There are about eight bridges crossing the river. It is so beautiful.
