Textbook
We use the series Computers - Part of your life: A textbook for Computer
Applications Technology Book 1 obtainable from Sandra Jacobs at
012 565 6469 and study.opp@mweb.co.za
and www.studyopportunities.co.za.
Digital evidence
- Create four folders named YourSurnameTheme
1 to YourSurnameTheme 4.
- File the work correctly in those folders
with clear file names.
- All work must be saved in the correct
folders with the number of the activity and its name.
Print evidence
- Check before you print - do not waste paper
- Saved printed work in flip file.
- Front - Name, class, subject and
illustration.
- In order
- Given sheet on Assessment for year.
- Given sheet on Learning Outcome and
Assessment Standards.
- Given sheet Theme 1 – All printed work
from Theme 1 – then the following themes as they are done.
- Leave last 10 sleeves in first flip file
open for formal Assessments.
- You will probably need 3 flip files for use
during the year.
Assessment
- Reports will be based on formal assessments
as indicated in the Given sheet on Assessment.
- Behaviour and effort symbols/marks will
come from the Ys and Ns in the daily assessments tasks.
Illness
- If I am ill or if you are ill submit your
work to me at pmiller@phs.org.za so I can check and tick off on the Y/N sheet.
- All work submitted to me electronically
must be saved as YourSurname and then the file name.
- While I am absent check the Y/N sheet which
will probably be on the Internet.
Order of work
- Follow the path in the textbook beginning
with Theme 1.

Time requirements
This course requires a great deal of time in order to complete the practical work. Each
learner is expected to
- complete daily homework.
- use the computer for lessons five times a week, plus a minimum of three hours a week
completing activities and the Performance Assessment Task.
- attend computer faires.
- read computer magazines, e.g. PCKnowHow, Computeractive.
- window shop or browse in computer stores.
